PRINCIPAL ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Head of Information & Knowledge, the Data Analyst is responsible to:

  • Develop data flows, data processing, data quality, data assurance, overall data management including visualization through detailed documentation for any new or emerging data reporting needs like deforestation, carbon reporting, HREDD, living income, living wages, etc.
  • Coordinate project related aspects along with stakeholder management (with the different Fairtrade system actors) as per the assigned workstreams.
    Coordinate and facilitate the design and maintenance of data systems and their corresponding databases of the Monitoring System. From data collection tools to final datasets. Including ETL, environments, fixing coding errors and other data-related problems.  
  • Mine and organize data in a format that can be easily used by final users.
    Proactively create data insights that cater to answering key questions from internal and external stakeholders that can drive business performance.
  • Contribute with data analysis and data deliveries for sharing with strategic decision-makers of the organization (Standard reporting, Fairtrade’s Global Strategy and Theory of Change reporting needs).
  • Coordinate the preparation of information products, reports and communication pieces as per need of the organization by effectively communicating trends, patterns, and predictions using relevant data.
  • Coordinate with and contribute to the work of data governance within the global data governance efforts.
  • Coordinate and ensure timely response of data queries of the unit in the email account reserved for this purpose or any other channel.
  • Customizing different data and impact services that are related to the respective workstreams for the stakeholder.Coordinate or liaise with digital development team for managing data platform.
  • Coordinate business needs for dashboards to the digital development teams.

SKILLS REQUIRED

Professional Skills: (Essential-E, Desirable-D)

  • Educated to masters’ level in economics, agricultural economics, social sciences, mathematics, engineering.
  • 2+ years’ experience in data management, data mining, reporting and communication.
  • Advanced user of Microsoft Excel, good knowledge of data analytics tools like Power Query in Excel or software like R is desired. 
  • Advanced experience with BI and data visualization tools, e.g., Power BI, Qlik, Infogram, TolaData, etc.
  • Experience in data cleansing and preparation of complex data sets.
  • Good numerical and statistical skills.
  • Competency to manage data using large databases.
  • Experience with variety of survey tools like Kobo toolbox, Survey JS, Lime Survey etc. and familiarity with data collection tools in the context of developing countries.
  • Excellent project management skills. Any prior certification in project management tools or agile approach will be highly preferred.
  • Excellent written and spoken Business English.
  • Knowledge of GIS skills (D)
  • Other language skills in Spanish, French are an asset. (D)

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  • This is a full-time position within Fairtrade International
  • Location is at Fairtrade International offices in Bonn, Germany
    The office language is English
  • Salary as per the Collective Bargaining Agreement for the Wholesale and Foreign Trade Industriesfor North Rhine Westphalia and Fairtrade International Company Agreement on wages and salaries Group V
  • Starting date: as soon as possible
